What's Substack all about?
It's a space where writers (like me) get supported for their work, from readers (like you) who value our research and content.
It’s such an honour, and bone-deep joy, to be able to directly connect with my readers here, and to receive payment for my expertise. I love writing for you, and promise to shoot sunbeams into your kitchen and your pantry!

Okay. So what’s your Substack about??
My Substack space is a recipe hive - hop in and out however you want! You can pay a monthly subscription of €6 or for €50 join me for the full year. It works out as less than €1 per week. My posts are designed to be your Allen key for creativity in the kitchen. Each crunch and crumb will fuel your body, and help you to nudge junk food off your radar without you even realising it.
My mantra is all about inclusion rather than exclusion, which readers find much easier to do long term. I'm about pleasure, not penance.
Want to eat better, without exiling your taste buds? Want to feel brilliant, and have a laugh too? That's what Taking the Hell out of Healthy is all about, all the while helping you mainline more veg into your life. You'll never regret nourishing yourself.
Do I need the app?
Nope.
I actually prefer reading my Substack subscriptions straight from my inbox on my iPhone or my laptop.
You might prefer the app, where all your subscriptions will land in one space. That's also pretty glorious, especially ensconced in a cafe with a latte and a little time. Or waiting at a busy bus stop filled with traffic fumes and road rage. The Substack app can be a a little gateway of tranquility, free from controlling algorithms, social media wormholes and advertising.
Do I have to pay?

I have a free subscribers list, with regular previews and occasional full-access posts. India Knight describes this tier like “waving at you cheerfully from across the street.” Or you may prefer to upgrade for the full experience where “instead of waving across the street, we’ve kissed hello, linked arms and gone for coffee.” You will gain 24-7 access to my ever-expanding library of wholefood, veg-forward recipes and demos.

Why did you change to Substack?
Prior to Substack, I spent 2 hours a day developing free content on Instagram for my followers, and writing a free Wordpress / Mailchimp newsletter since 2008. I literally couldn't afford to run my website any longer. I believe in writers being paid for their work, just as I believe a plumber or teacher should be paid for their work.
The Substack model offers a beautiful reciprocity with my readers. The more support Taking the Hell out of Healthy receives, the more time and resources I can devote to making it a dazzling space of learning, eating and nourishment for everyone. Think of it as a disco for your dimples and your microbiota!
